Yesterday, Brazil’s human rights committee finally passed a 16-year-old bill to classify a “union” as a longstanding partnership between two people regardless of gender. Brazil’s Supreme Court has been approving civil unions for same-sex couples since last May and even allowing them to be converted to marriages.
